San Francisco Getaway

Begin your trip to the “City by the Bay” – San Francisco - with a welcome dinner where you will meet your fellow travelers. The next morning, you can enjoy breakfast on Pier 39, San Francisco’s top attraction. You’ll experience an up-close view of the haul-out of harbor seals, postcard views of the Golden Gate and Bay bridges, Alcatraz and San Francisco Bay. After breakfast, a local guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of the city. Highlights will include the Twin Peaks, Seal Rocks and the Golden Gate Bridge. In the afternoon, you will have some leisure time to explore the shops at Fisherman’s Wharf or Union Square or take a ride up and down the city’s thrilling hills on a famed cable car.
On the third day, you will travel to the beautiful Sonoma Valley, one of the most famous wine-growing regions in the country. There you will enjoy a wine tasting and tour of the Viansa Winery and visit to the unique marketplace.
You will travel to Monterey the next day. This city is often called the greatest meeting of land, sea and sky; home to the famed 17 Mile Drive, one of the most breathtaking coastlines in the world. On this drive, you will pass through the Del Monte Forest and Pebble Beach Golf Course, then travel to Old Monterey, the place where California’s statehood began in 1849. You will have time to explore charming Old Monterey and shop at Cannery Row. Enjoy dinner in Monterey before your return to San Francisco and the end of your tour.
Gardenton Ukrainian Festival

“Welcome to Manitoba 2010” – a special day in Gardenton to help celebrate their annual Ukrainian Festival with entertainment from Ukraine.
Our morning coffee stop will be in St. Pierre Jolys at the Sugar Shack. After our arrival at Gardenton Hall, we will have a homemade Ukrainian lunch (perogies, cabbage rolls, borsch, chicken, etc). At 1 p.m. we will be entertained with a stage show by performers from Ukraine. An optional tour(your cost $2) you may visit the Tall Grass Museum, an original one-room school built in 1907, a thatched roof house built in 1897, and the first Ukrainian Church in Canada. Our afternoon break includes an ice cream treat before our departure.

Our trip to southern Manitoba begins with morning coffee at Auberge Clemence in Eli. Our next stop will be at Stockton Ferry which is a heritage site. In Wawanesa (known in Cree as Sipiweske), we will see the Wawanesa Mutual Insurance office, now a heritage building and the Sipiweske Museum featuring Nellie McClung artifacts, Criddle/Vane family artifacts, and the Leigh family exquisite collection. We also visit the St. John the Divine Anglican Church built in 1882. Our lunch will be served in Wawanesa.
Leaving Wawanesa, we will travel to the original Criddle/Vane homestead and cemetery and hear stories told by direct descendants of the family. Percy Criddle emigrated to Canada in 1882 with his wife and “maid” and their nine children. His daughter Alma Criddle wrote a book about her family, Criddle-de-Diddle and Oriole (Vane) Veldhuis wrote a book called Vane Connection. We also visit the Carberry Museum which holds more Criddle artifacts. Afternoon coffee will be served.

This tour of Canyon Country in Arizona and Utah features some of America’s most colourful and spectacular scenery with visits to three national parks.
Your holiday begins in the historic city of Scottsdale, Arizona. During your second day you will tour downtown Phoenix, Camelback Mountain, Paradise Valley and Old Town Scottsdale, as well as watch Native American jewellery-making demonstrations. The third day begins with a visit to the beautiful city of Sedona with time to shop in the marketplace. Then it’s on to Oak Creek Canyon and spectacular Kaibab National Forest where you will reach the south rim of the Grand Canyon.
You will have ample time to explore the Grand Canyon the next morning. Later, a short drive will bring you to Cameron Trading Post, a haven for travelers, traders and explorers who come from all points of the globe to see the wonder of the Grand Canyon. You will continue north through mesa-studded desert scenery before arriving at your home for the next two evenings, Lake Powell Resort.
You will begin the next day with an invigorating breakfast cruise. Journey through the territory of the Navajo nation and arrive in Monument Valley, a sacred Navajo land featuring colourful sandstone spires that rise hundreds of feet from the valley floor. You will also visit Hogan, where Navajo history and symbolism are represented.
The next day, you will ravel to Bryce Canyon National Park, truly one of the most spectacular scenic wonders of the world, then on to your final destination for the day – the red and white sandstone cliffs of Zion National Park. In sheer magnitude and colour, this is one of the most awe-inspiring national parks in the world. You will climb aboard Zion’s open-air tram to truly experience spectacular scenery as you wind alongside the Virgin River through the 2,400-foot deep ½ mile wide Zion Canyon.
Later that day, you will leave nature’s beauty behind for the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas strip. Your two-night stay will provide you with plenty of time to enjoy the shows, casinos and all the fun that only Las Vegas offers. A Southern California and Vegas Adventure

After breakfast the next day, you will head out for a day of adventure at an old mining camp. Explore the steep-walled canyons carved by water and the San Andreas Fault. Try your hand at the Old Time Shooting Gallery or pan for gold – then feast on Big Willies BBQ for dinner and listen to a country singer who will take you on a nostalgic journey through tunes from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. On the seventh day, you will depart for the dynamic resort city of Las Vegas for a two- night stay. On the final day of the tour, you will join your fellow travelers for a farewell dinner celebrating the end of a wonderful trip.
