Mission Statement

To represent Manitobans
age 50 plus by promoting their needs and concerns
and by presenting a positive image of older adults in the community. The Manitoba Society of Seniors Inc. was started by a group of older Manitobans in 1979 who
felt there was a need for

Manitoba Seniors and Healthy Aging Secretariat

The Seniors and Healthy Aging Secretariat acts as a central point of contact for seniors, their family members and organizations.  Staff also work to ensure government policies, programs and legislation reflect the needs of seniors.
 

 

Manitoba Network for the Prevention of Abuse of Older Adults

The Manitoba Network for the Prevention of Abuse of Older Adults is a group of older adults, service providers, care givers, professionals, community organizations, government and other concerned citizens working together to prevent abuse of older adults in Manitoba. Our mission is to act as a central point of contact for provincial efforts and to support regional and community initiatives to prevent abuse of older Manitobans.

Long Term & Continuing Care Association of Manitoba

The purpose of the Long Term & Continuing Care Association of Manitoba is to advance and elevate the status of long term and continuing care by promoting awareness of its needs and potential to Government, Regional Health Authorities, Allied Health Agencies and the community. The Association's website contains information on supportive housing options for Manitoba seniors.

Is a non-profit organization that supports adults with mental disabilities

who live as valued members of the community.  Has developed a

resource library that provides information about aging and having an

intellectual disability.

National Do Not Call List (DNCL)

The DNCL allows Canadians to reduce the number of telemarketing calls they receive.

Winnipeg Transition Centre

The Winnipeg Transition Centre, founded in 1989, is a not-for profit organization that provides free job search assistance, resume coaching and interview preparation for unemployed individuals. The Winnipeg Transition Centre also provides professional development for trainers and facilitators.

Understanding Pain and Dementia

An educational web site containing information and resources for family members who wish to learn about pain in someone with dementia.

University of Winnipeg's 55 Plus Program

The University of Winnipeg offers courses designed for students age 55 and over through its Continuing Education Division.

Post-Polio Network (Manitoba) Inc.

Post-Polio Network (Manitoba) Inc. was established in 1986. The organization serves as a support group and information centre for polio survivors throughout Manitoba, especially those suffering from Post-Polio Syndrome. It works to acquaint the medical community and those responsible for government services as to the nature and extent of the problems associated with the late effects of polio. The membership includes polio survivors, their families, and health care professionals.
